A simple IWB maths game to develop early counting skills with a Football World Cup theme. Links well with WhiteRose maths planning for the Autumn term. Ideal for a starter or to model counting within 10 using a ten-frame as part of whole class teaching and learning. May also work well in small guided group session using the IWB and additional follow up resources included for continuous provision.
Children are invited to count the footballs in the goal (ten-frame) and click on the matching symbolic number (choice of 3 cards). Lots of different arrangements of footballs from one to ten presented (40 slides in length). Easily adaptable.
This resource also comes with 10 free Football themed counting mats and footballer number digit cards from 1 to 10. Ideal for continuous provision and can be used in multiple ways. Children can add counters to the mats to show the number of goals, find one more or one less. Children may wish to find the number pairs that would make 10 goals altogether.
