Functional Skills English Level 1 Writing Pack

Comprehensive Functional Skills English Level 1 Writing Practice Pack designed to help adult learners plan, write, check and improve clear written responses.

The pack uses accessible instructions, a consistent print-friendly layout and generous writing space. Questions are arranged one below another to make planning easy to follow, including for learners who use English as an additional language.

The Email Writing Booklet includes dedicated To and Subject boxes. Its guided task focuses on asking about a volunteer role, followed by an independent email about catching up after a missed lesson.

The Writing Scaffolding Toolkit includes six additional tasks:

• A complaint about an appointment charge

• A report on community centre improvements

• A leisure centre review

• An email about disruption at college

• Instructions for finding and applying for a job

• An article about two music artists

Each toolkit task includes audience and purpose questions, useful phrases, a planning framework and focused paragraph practice before a full response. Reusable response pages and a checking activity are included.

Teacher Copies include suggested plans, corrected sentences with explanations, developed paragraph examples, feedback guidance and 14 complete model responses across the pack.
