An exciting GCSE lesson that can be used regardless of exam spec followed. This lesson focuses on the skills required as opposed to direct exam spec questions.
This pack could easily last for two, one hour lessons. The lesson focuses around the notion of horror films and ‘should they be banned in the UK,’ allowing students to form their opinion - allows for great discussion work and could also be linked to speaking and listening skills, if preparing for assessment.
Pack includes:

  • 14 page PowerPoint
  • A full starter activity (Rewriting for audience and purpose)
  • Core, Extension and Challenge Thinking Activity linked to horror genre.
  • Outcome and Expectations slide
  • Synonym Task ( upgrading vocab exercises)
  • Writing to argue task
  • Choice of two non-fiction articles to read with class ‘The Lasting Effects of Horror Movies on Teens and Young Children.’
  • Planning for Success Grids
  • Example teacher written article.
  • Counter arguments task
  • Self - assessment task
  • Outcomes slide.
