GCSE Language Paper 1 Section A: Reading Fiction

A bundle of 5 fully planned and resourced lessons (though some could be stretched over 2 hours) that develop student’s reading, comprehension and inference skills before dovetailing into guided and scaffolded analysis of techniques. Included:

• Fiction extracts by authors like Stephen King and and Roald Dahl for student engagement
• Comprehension tasks
• Adapted, differentiated analysis tasks for EAL, SEN, lower ability and GCSE resit learners
• An approach to analysis that focuses on fundamentals such as word types, sentence types and grammar concepts rather than advanced techniques like personification etc so as to be accessible to less skilled learners
• Creative writing tasks
