Many students find it easy to create a chord sequence and play it through as block chords on the piano. This resource aims at demonstrating to students different ways in which they can use their chords as a form of accompaniment. On the back of the example are four differentiated questions to allow for stretch as well as support. This resource has been designed for a Quiz-Quiz-Trade activity in an AQA 9-1 composition lesson to provide students with a starting point for their accompaniment.

The resource includes:
- Four made for piano
- Two made for electric guitar
- Two made for a string quartet

The differentiated questions focus on the instrument you would find the technique on, genre you could find it in, advantages of the technique and disadvantages of the technique.

It is the responsibility to check through this resource and target it to specific students against their target grade and exam board specification. This resource has been tailored towards the new AQA GCSE 9-1 Specification.
