Planning for ‘Ghost Boys’ by Jewell Parker Rhodes

12 x hour long lessons on the book ‘Ghost Boys’

Focuses on skills to improve Vocabulary (3 lessons), Reading skills (3 lessons), Writing skills (3 lessons), then opportunity to apply (3 lessons).

Each lesson includes starter activities designed to improve basic grammar skills. It uses the mastery approach to learn skills such as capital letters, subject/verb identification, tenses etc.

These lessons were originally planned to support lower ability/SEN Secondary school children (Year 7, 8 or 9). It would also work for a Year 6 class but check the themes are suitable first!

Very engaging planning from a Head of Literacy at a secondary school (previously a Primary School Teacher)
