Global Perspectives: Climate Change. Full unit, 6 lessons.

A complete six-lesson Global Perspectives unit on one question: whose job is it to deal with climate change? Built for IGCSE, age 14 to 16, and easy to adapt down to Lower Secondary. The unit treats the science of climate change as settled, and debates the response, not whether warming is real. It is built around perspectives, not personal preference. The debate motion is whether rich countries should pay poorer countries. The two anchor voices are the Ugandan activist Vanessa Nakate, who makes the case for climate justice, and the economist Bjorn Lomborg, who argues for shared action and spending where it does the most good.

The six lessons: what is climate change; rich countries should pay; the case for shared action; whose perspective; a research task; a debate and reflection.
The worksheets cover causes and effects, a case sheet for each side, a perspectives grid with role cards, a research task with a source-checking tool and an evidence file, a full debate pack, a reflection sheet, and a success checklist. The depth layer adds a data sheet with cited figures from the WMO, Our World in Data, the Global Carbon Project and the UN, an annotated source list, three case studies including the Loss and Damage Fund and Zambia’s Kariba drought, a stretch layer, an assessment with a mark scheme, and a reading list. This unit also supports education for sustainable development.
