1-Hour Lesson – Fully Interactive – Ready to Teach
Dear Colleague,
Explore the drama and determination of the Suffragette movement and discover how the government responded to their campaign. In this lesson, students will investigate the reasons behind government actions, analyse the tactics used by the Suffragettes, and evaluate whether their strategies were effective.
This is the fifth lesson of a 9-lesson unit, but it works perfectly as a stand-alone session. Students will engage with original sources, match key knowledge, and develop their writing skills through structured activities.
Learning Objectives:
LO1: Understand the Government’s reaction to the Suffragette Campaign
LO2: Explain the reasons behind the Government’s reaction
LO3: Evaluate whether the Suffragettes’ tactics were effective
Lesson Features:
Group or class-assessed knowledge tasks
Individual writing task with one-to-one teacher support
Homework, reading resources, and task templates included
Fully interactive, ready-to-teach slideshow
This lesson is ideal for Year 8 students towards the end of the year or as part of a wider study on Women’s Suffrage.
