Practise tracking where a point goes when a graph is translated or reflected: outside the bracket changes y, inside changes x, the opposite way. 16 questions, full answers included.

Worksheet (half page, 8 questions): the first six give a point on y = f(x) and one transformation, such as f(x) + 3, f(x − 3), −f(x) or f(−x), with that reminder and a small grid showing the point before. The support then fades to writing the equation of a new graph from where a point moved, and finding a minimum point after a combined translation.

Further practice (half page, 8 questions): graded by difficulty, including a reflection combined with a translation, finding a and b from a moved maximum point, writing the equation of a translated curve from a sketch, a temperature graph shifted in time, a translated y = x² written in the form y = x² + bx + c, a computer game ramp that is reflected then moved, and explaining a mistake with f(x + 3).

Answers to all 16 questions are included as a separate file.

Suitable for GCSE Higher (AQA A13) classes working on graph transformations.
