Practise reflecting graphs: y = −f(x) is a reflection in the x-axis and y = f(−x) is a reflection in the y-axis. 16 questions, full answers included.

Worksheet (2 pages): the first six give a graph of y = f(x) on a grid for students to reflect, saying which axis it is reflected in. The support then fades: students write the equation of a reflected graph from a sketch, then sketch y = f(−x) on their own.

Further practice (2 pages): graded by difficulty, including where a point P goes under each reflection, the new turning point and whether it is a maximum or a minimum, the equation of a reflected quadratic written without f, a ball reflected in a pond, a skate ramp reflected in the y-axis, sketching y = −f(−x), and checking a claim that y = −f(x) and y = f(−x) are never the same graph.

Answers to all 16 questions are included as a separate file.

Suitable for GCSE Higher (AQA A13) classes working on graph transformations.
