Guided Reading lessons - The Boy In The Tower

This PowerPoint is a Year 5 reading comprehension resource based on The Boy in the Tower by Polly Ho-Yen. Throughout the week, pupils explore key extracts from the novel, learn important vocabulary, and answer retrieval, vocabulary, inference, and authorial language questions. The lessons focus on Ade’s relationship with his mum, his responsibilities at home, his feelings, and the challenges he faces as his mum’s wellbeing changes.

The final section also includes a science reading comprehension about the Earth, Sun and Moon, helping pupils develop their scientific understanding while practising reading skills.
