Halloween Word Search

About this resource: I love a word search! The scanning, sound, and pattern recognition are vital for training reading skills. There are a number of strategies to encourage locating words. Do some go backwards? Are there any diagonals? Do we know the meaning of each word? Can we use it in a sentence? Not every school leans into Halloween, so I have tried to make this as neutral as possible. If I were using this in class, I would dive into the mythology of some of the creatures and try some Gothic literature with an older class. Sometimes it can be useful to start with what words they might associate with Halloween too. Some creative Halloween activities at the end for you, just incase you’re feeling rebellious!
