A model diary entry from Harry’s perspective about the events in Chapter 3 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, along with a task for identifying the features and an extension.

This diary entry is stopped short (we pretended he was writing it on the floor of the hut at the end of the chapter) to represent the moment Hagrid knocks on the door. I used it to teach cohesion between diary entries, as the children then wrote the next entry, emulating the style but about the events of Chapter 4. However, if you wanted to use it just as a model, it would only need a few more words to complete it.
