Healthy, clean teeth KS1 PSHE lesson.
A one-hour long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS1. This lesson has been created for Year 1, however, the activities are also suitable for use in Year 2, or even younger students in KS2 (Year 3).
In this lesson, the children will learn about oral health and the reasons why we need to floss and brush our teeth. We will discuss the role of germs in causing tooth decay and identify how oral hygiene can prevent cavities from forming.
The lesson includes a case study starter, a video clip with accompanying questions, a practical teeth cleaning activity using laminated worksheets, and a plenary task.
The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to.

Healthy Bodies - Year 1
In this Year 1 Health and Wellbeing unit, we will learn how to keep our bodies healthy. We will explore hygiene and keeping clean, brushing our teeth, staying safe in the sun, eating well, and the different ways we can stay active. Many of these lessons build on what we learned in EYFS, when we read and talked about stories like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Sparkle Kitty versus the Sun. In Year 1, the focus is on practical steps we can take to look after our bodies, giving a foundation for deeper learning when we revisit this topic in later years. Each lesson is fully editable and compliant with DfE and PSHE Association guidelines, ensuring ease of integration into your chosen curriculum. This bundle offers flexibility for educators, providing the option to select individual lessons or mini-units rather than committing to a full scheme. Detailed schemes of work that are aligned to this unit are available in our free planning pack. Explore the detailed content of each lesson by clicking the links below.
