This lesson is guided by Powerpoint slides to:

• Identify persuasive techniques within a text
• Identify information within a text and answer a variety of questions
• Create a leaflet / guide applying suitable layout features and language techniques
• Use commas appropriately

TASKS include:

• Embedded MATHS starter task / hook.
• SPEAKING & LISTENING skills developed through group discussion / analysis of a Macdonalds advertisement.
• Exploring how texts use PERSUASIVE TECHNIQUES
• Use of DAFOREST to explore LANGUAGE TECHNIQUES
• READING an extended NON FICTION text, news article, to identify key information and answer EXAM style questions
• Annotating language techniques in a second NON FICTION text (leaflet)
• Learners are guided to design a leaflet persuading teenagers to live a healthier lifestyle

SPAG focus is on COMMA and ‘double commas’

PEER MARKING is encouraged throughout this lesson.
