A couple of years ago I wrote a post about different approaches for solving more advanced ratio problems at Higher GCSE: https://www.resourceaholic.com/2017/12/ratio.html. I’ve now made a lesson to accompany this post. This was designed for a Year 11 double lesson, though it might need longer. It features two approaches: equivalent fractions with algebra, plus the scaling method. These are designed with AQA ratio GCSE questions in mind. The lesson includes a number of questions/activities that I did not create: sources are SSDDproblems.com, Don Steward, variationtheory.com and past exam questions. See the notes under each slide for full sources. I have provided a PDF version in case font/formatting is lost in PowerPoint, but the PowerPoint is better because it has animations and notes.
