School assembly tried and tested in a UK state secondary for ages 11-18 for Holocaust Memorial Day.
Historical context on the final months of WWII and first hand accounts from the liberators of the camp on 27th January 1945.
The meaning of the date is explored, with a summary of what was happening in the last months of WWII, including Burma, the Atlantic War, the bombing of Germany and the Battle of the Bulge.
First hand accounts from the troops who discovered Auchwitz on January 27. Photographs of the liberation scenes. No graphic nor atrocity images are included so as not to dehumanise the events.
The assembly rounds off with an update on two of the Liberators.
