This Causes of World War II lesson investigates how the peacekeeping policy of Appeasement caused the outbreak of World War Two. It looks at the British policy of appeasement and Hitler’s breaking of the Treaty of Versailles in order to write an account of how appeasement led to the outbreak of war. Students are encouraged to interlink the main causes of WWII: the Treaty of Versailles, the Great Depression, Appeasement and Hitler’s policies.
