An excellent way to set up a creative writing exercise.
Show your class the picture of the umbrella on the gate.
Ask them to think of an idea for an intriguing story that might explain why the umbrella is where it is.
Then ask them to write a short story that ends with the words: ‘and therefore that is the reason that the umbrella was left on the gate!”
Show them the example story to inspire and motivate them.
