THESE ARE UPDATED NOTES FOR 2021 !
THESE NOTES ARE WRITTEN BY A FIRST YEAR MEDICAL STUDENT STUDYING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM.

" HOW I RANKED 1ST IN MY SCHOOL (TIPS + TRICKS !)

  1. USE THE TEACHER’S GUIDE SPECIFIC FOR YOUR EXAM BOARD AS WELL AS THE SPECIFICATION! IT PROVIDES MORE DETAILED INFO ON EACH ASPECT OF THE TOPIC.

  2. MAKE CONCISE NOTES ON EACH TOPIC FROM THE SPEC AND ALSO MAKE SEPARATE NOTES FOR ALL THE SOCIOLOGISTS + STATISTICS BASED ON EACH TOPIC. STATS ARE IMPORTANT AS THEY PUSH YOU INTO THE A* BAND.

  3. USE ALL THE PAST PAPER MATERIALS PROVIDED BY YOUR SCHOOL/COLLEGE. I DID EVERY SINGLE AQA/LEGACY AS + A-LEVEL PAST PAPER FROM THE 1990S - 2018 BEFORE MY YEAR 12 + YEAR 13 MOCK EXAMS (you can find these papers on google!) LINK FOR AQA: Past Papers

  4. READ THE EXAMINER’S REPORT! THEY PROVIDE CRUCIAL INFO ON WHERE STUDENTS HAVE GONE WRONG IN PREVIOUS YEARS !

  5. PRACTICE IN TIMED CONDITIONS! SOCIOLOGY IS AN ESSAY-BASED SUBJECT, THEREFORE TIME-MANAGEMENT IS KEY!

  6. HAVE FUN/LEARN TO LOVE THE SUBJECT! SOCIOLOGY IS A RARE SUBJECT WHERE EXAMINERS WANT TO HEAR YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON CURRENT AFFAIRS. THEREFORE, SHOW OFF YOUR KNOWLEDGE + GAIN THOSE MARKS !

REVISION GUIDE/NOTES
(NB: These notes are specifically tailored to AQA AS + A-level Sociology, but can be applicable to all exam boards. These notes are made for revision purposes and shouldn’t be used as a substitute for textbooks.)"
