A group role-play exercise that has students researching the events of World War I in 1914 and the development of the stalemate on the Western Front. Students work in groups and are assigned to a particular country. They must submit a “situation report” in Dec. 1914 for their chosen country. They do so after researching their country’s situation. The PowerPoint presentation contains a link to the YouTube clip I use for this assignment. I also use it with the following print resources:

Mike Wells, “Causes, Practices and Effects of War”, pp. 40-47

Andy Dailey and Sarah Webb, “Causes and Effects of 20th Century Wars”, pp. 35-39.

The file can be converted to Google Slides.
