IB MYP Physics Criterion C (Processing and Evaluating) Part 1 workbook: presenting and processing data – tables, calculations and graphs, with model answers.

Published by Awan Publications – written by an experienced IB MYP and DP Physics educator and Head of Physics.

What is this resource?

Part 1 of a two-part skills workbook for MYP Sciences Criterion C: Processing and Evaluating, built for MYP Year 4–5 (Grade 9–10) Individual Physics. This part focuses on the first strand: presenting collected and transformed data – the step where students so often lose easy marks in practical write-ups and the eAssessment.

The workbook keeps the cause and effect thread running throughout: students always know which column, axis and calculation relates to the cause they changed and which to the effect they measured, with independent and dependent variable terminology shown alongside.

What’s inside

Each section follows the same clear, repeatable structure:

  1. Why it matters – what the skill is, linked directly to the Year 5 Criterion C rubric
  2. Worked example – a fully modelled top-level response
  3. 20 practice questions – plenty of repetition to build confidence and fluency

Skills covered include:

  • Results tables – correct headings, units and consistent decimal places
  • Processing raw data – calculating means from repeats and spotting anomalous results
  • Transforming data – using physics equations to calculate derived quantities
  • Choosing and drawing graphs – axes, scales, labels, plotting and lines of best fit
  • Presenting data clearly so it is ready to be interpreted

Model answers for every practice question are included at the back.

Who is it for?
  • MYP Year 4–5 (Grade 9–10) Physics students preparing for practical write-ups and the eAssessment
  • Teachers who want to teach data handling explicitly, with ready-made practice
  • Integrated Sciences students who need to strengthen their data presentation skills
How to use it

Teach one section before or after a practical, set sections as homework, or use the practice questions as starters and retrieval tasks. Pair it with Part 2 (Interpreting and Evaluating) for full Criterion C coverage.
