The below is the question this file will cover, and this originates from section A, of the examination, where all marks total to 40% of the paper!

QUESTION:

WHICH TEXT IS BETTER AT PRESENTING THE WAY PEOPLE FEEL ABOUT
THE ENVIRONMENT?

You may choose either Text One or Text Two but you must explain your choice carefully. Give two reasons why you chose this text and one reason for not choosing the other text. You may wish to comment on the writers’ language and techniques. You should support your points with evidence from the text.

MARKS: 6

Here is a basic breakdown of the different sections of Edexcel IGCSE English Language B:

These sections comprise of:

“A” being the place likely involving two unseen texts, which have to be to annotated, analysed and compared with each other. Here you will need to be able to meet  Assessment objective AO1, AO2 & AO3.

“B” is the time where pupils would be expected to write a piece of transactional writing (examples being: writing to inform/explain/review/argue/persuade/advise). Here you will need to be able to meet  Assessment objective AO1, AO4 & AO5.

“C” would be the  part of the exam where a pupil would be given the opportunity to choose one out of three options of a style/genre of writing, and an imaginative piece of work would probably be included in this section . Examiners would look out for AO4 & AO5 in this portion of the paper.
