This PowerPoint lesson on Generators shows how a rotating coil within a magnetic field can produce a sinusoidal output voltage (potential difference) in a circuit. Oscilloscope readings for an AC suply are looked at in detail so that students can calculate the peak voltage and time period from a diagram. Output wave forms are considered and examples are shown on how these change when the variables of the rotating coil are changed. Finally the engineering systems in a power station generator are covered.
