Independent Learning Aid

I use these when I want the kids to work independently without me. I give them a task to complete and they get some ask the expert cards (usually determined by how good they are at working independently and differentiated in the class). They also get a spy card.
They can use resources such as exercise books, revision guides etc for free but if they ask me a question they have to hand back an ask the expert card to me.
The spy cards mean they can go and look at another student's work but once they've used it they have to hand it back to me. The spy cards are also a good way of keeping students in their seats - I mention that if they are out of their seats I will assume they are using their spy card and take it off them.
I've used these with individual work and group work and a mixture of ability ranges.
