Here is an toolkit for independent writing for children in Upper KS2 (would also work for LKS2 but there are some sentences types that would not be taught until UKS2). It is to aid in independent writing and would be ideal for year 6 as they head in to writing assessment. Included in the portfolio are:

5/6 spelling list
emotion synonyms
colour synonyms
setting description adjectives
punctuation types and examples
subordinating conjunctions
coordinating conjunctions
word types and examples
