A set of six printable cover sheets for students studying Pearson Edexcel A-Level History, Paper 3, Option 34.1: Industrialisation and social change in Britain, 1759–1928: forging a new society, focusing on Breadth Theme 2: The World of Childhood.

These cover sheets help students keep their notes organised while developing an overview of how children’s lives changed across the period. Each sheet provides focused prompts and space to record accurate knowledge, dated examples, comparisons and supported judgements.

The six sheets cover:

  • Childhood and industrial work
  • Government action and child protection
  • Employers, philanthropists and reformers
  • Education and the transformation of childhood
  • Changing attitudes towards children
  • The big picture and breadth essay planning

Students consider the impact of child labour, protective legislation, voluntary reform, schooling and cultural attitudes. The prompts encourage them to explain change and continuity, compare the importance of different causes, and recognise how experiences varied according to class, gender, occupation and locality.

The final sheet draws the theme together through a chronological overview, a comparison of the main causes of change, and a structured essay plan. This helps students turn their detailed lesson knowledge into an argument covering the whole period.

The sheets can be used for:

  • Organising topic folders
  • Recording and refining lesson notes
  • Retrieval practice and revision
  • Bringing together learning at the end of the theme
  • Planning breadth essays

Suitable for use from the beginning of the topic, with students adding to their sheets as teaching progresses and revisiting them during revision.
