Imperative statements instruct another person what to do. The subject ‘you’ is usually missed off the front of an imperative statement, unless it is included for emphasis. Imperative statements usually begin with an imperative verb (a verb in base tense).

LO: To give and understand instructions and commands in English
Success Criteria:
•I can identify imperative verbs in command statements.
•I understand the meaning of a variety of imperative verbs.
•I know that we often miss the subject ‘you’ off the beginning of command statements.
•I know that we use the present simple tense and so, because the subject is ‘you’ we do not add an ‘s’ to the verb.
•I can identify parts of a sentence (subjects, verbs, prepositions and objects)
