Adaption of the old S5 resource, referenced in the AQA All about Maths SoW. Converted to PPT and animated to make it more user friendly.

This session is in two linked parts.
 Matching pie charts to bar charts, then matching box and whisker plots to bar charts.

Each part of the session starts with a whole group discussion to compare the newly-introduced type of representation, looking at its advantages, disadvantages and practical applications. Learners then work in pairs. I get my students to have an individual set of the cards to stick in their own books.
No prior knowledge is assumed, though it is helpful if learners have encountered some of these ideas before.

A really useful set of resources using resources from the old standards unit, which looks at interpreting data from different types of chart and graph. A nice activity included is the card sort task, which is a great way to promote team working. Thanks for sharing!
