These 7 resources make up a 2 lesson poetry game that can serve as an introduction to poetry for KS3/ KS4 or a way into the poem/ revision for KS4.
The aim is to introduce students to poetry and analysis by putting them in the place of detectives (I think originally a Paul Ginnis idea).

The lesson forces students to be collaborative, it's competitive so has worked well with my reluctant boys and it has constant teacher assessment throughout.

You can also differentiate as you go- because the students bring you the answer each time they complete one, you can decide if that is good enough for that particular group or if you want to push them to be more specific.

It includes;
A PowerPoint detailing lesson outline
A vocabulary starter ( linked to words in the poem)
Evidence cards
A detective report
Student instructions
Murder mystery analysis tables (completed AFTER mystery solved)
A copy of the poem (Only to be give AFTER mystery solved!)

It's good fun for both students and teachers!
