In the beginning, Isla Nublar lay silent, untouched…uninhabited…but a startling scientific experiment and a wealthy man’s fantasy have turned the small island into a place of terrible wonder. It is called Jurassic Park. Where ancient jungles thrive and primitive life is renewed. Dinosaurs from 65 million years ago walk the earth once again.

Dr. Ian Malcolm, chaos theorist, says: “scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could bring dinosaurs back to life that they didn’t stop to think if they should.”

Read the junior novel study reader’s theater unit with your class and find out if Dr. Malcolm is correct.

The comprehension questions vary in terms of difficulty. You may choose to ask all of the questions or select only a few depending on the grade of your readers.

Students are asked to complete a book review at the end of the novel study. They can rate how well they enjoyed the book and who’s performances they enjoyed hearing.

I have read this novel study with grades 3-7 in class and online, and they could not wait for the next chapter. I have read this novel study with my emerging adult readers and they had lots of fun re-living the thrills of Jurassic Park.

I have adapted the original novel for my advanced adult class and I will post it in the future.

Every class I have read Jurassic Park with, always has at least one student who is a dinosaur expert.

I always save this unit for the month of June. It is a classic summer time story that my students and I enjoy reading. At the end of the unit, I have the students complete their own Jurassic Park diorama.

Each chapter includes many photos from the iconic film that will help immerse your class into the world of Jurassic Park. Facial expressions are focused upon so the students know how the character is feeling and they can change their tone of voice to match their character’s expression.

Your class will love their stay in Jurassic Park and they will be asking for more.

Welcome to Jurassic Park!
