KS1 English plan - letter writing pen pal (linked to sci habitats with a hedgehog visit)

English a week’s unit linked to sci habitats in relation to hedgehog. As a year group had visit from a hedgehog then used to support letter writing through pen pal context.
I can recognise features of a letter.
I can participate in a discussion about what is read to me, take turns and listen to what others say. Speaking and listening focus.
I can compose a sentence orally before writing it.
I can link sounds to letters, naming and sounding the letters of the alphabet.
I can use adjectives to describe.
I can write simple sentences which can be read by me and others.
I can use capital letters and full stops.
I can point out the differences between different animals.
I can describe how a hedgehog is suited to its environment.
