Christmas poetry and letter writing - a fun way to continue to teach high quality English lessons during the busy Christmas period.

Two individual KS2 English lessons (which could be stretched to more lessons if needed) around the theme of Christmas.

One lesson focuses on the art of writing a persuasive letter, with the hook of writing to Santa to persuade him to bring their desired presents. It looks at the features of a letter, as well as exploring what different persuasive techniques could be used.

The another lesson focuses on poetry, specifically haikus. This lesson teaches the format of a haiku and discusses the importance of syllables. The children can then write their own Christmas Haiku Poem.

Each lesson comes complete with PowerPoint slides, worksheets (where applicable), a WAGOLL and lesson plan - all of which are fully editable.

Enjoy English with your class in the run up to Christmas with these lessons!
