KS2 Citizenship: Making a Difference — SEND-Adapted Pack

A full SEND-adapted version of the KS2 Citizenship: Making a Difference unit. Includes an EEF-strategy Teacher Guide, a Scaffolded Pupil Workbook for all 6 lessons, a Simplified Knowledge Organiser, DfE Engagement Model planning for EHC pupils, and 6 rebuilt lesson decks with picture-supported scaffolds throughout. Same active-citizenship content as the mainstream scheme — what an active citizen is, finding an issue we care about, researching it, planning our action, taking action, and the difference we made — simplified for full-class access. Ready for the statutory citizenship entitlement announced for 2028.
This pack follows Verity’s standard two-tier SEND structure. Tier A — adaptive teaching for pupils with SEND without an EHC plan: the whole class stays on the same ambitious content, with the right scaffolds, not a watered-down version. Tier B — DfE Engagement Model (2020) planning for pupils with EHC plans: sensory, multi-modal access ideas, core truths at an accessible level, and symbol/Makaton key words. The Teacher Guide is mapped to the Education Endowment Foundation’s five evidence-based SEND strategies (explicit instruction, scaffolding, flexible grouping, cognitive and metacognitive strategies, and purposeful use of technology). Every file is an editable Word or PowerPoint document.
Aligned to the statutory Citizenship programmes of study for the National Curriculum in England (Department for Education; © Crown copyright, reused under the Open Government Licence v3.0) and informed by the active-citizenship approach associated with the Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT; © ACT).
