Reading Rescue is a printable toolkit for Years 4 5 designed for guided reading, small-group support and one-to-one tuition.
Each skill is practised through a core topic and a different transfer topic, helping you explore whether pupils can apply their understanding beyond a familiar passage.

Choose the text version that suits each pupil. Follow the core sequence or the alternative route, which introduces a new topic and includes comparison or reteaching.
Allow approximately five 20-minute sessions each week. Starting and final reviews, and additional retry checks, require separate time.
