KS2 Spelling Lists (for 17 weeks!)

Please find attached 17 weeks worth of spellings sent out weekly to a Year 4 class - the children would be tested on them the following week!

The lists also include an example of how to use each word in a sentence, so that the pupils also learnt their meaning.

In each downloadable file there is a spelling list for Group 1 and a spelling list for Group 2 (the trickier spellings!)

Spring 1 Weeks 1 to 6:
Group 1 = CVCC words, CCVC words, common tricky words, CCVCC words, CCVVC words
Group 2 = 'y' words (sounding like 'i'), 'ou' words (sounding like 'uh'), 'super-' prefix, '-sure- words, '-ally' words, '-ily' words

Spring 2 Weeks 1 to 6:
Group 1 = 'kn' words, common tricky words, CCVC words, CCVCC words, CCVVC words
Group 2 = 'kn' words (trickier), '-ing' words, 'ou' words (sounding like 'oo'), '-ally' words, '-ion' words, '-ily' words

Extra Weeks 1 to 5:
Group 1 = 'ai' words, 'kn' words, common tricky words, 'ou' words (sounding like 'ow')
Group 2 = 'ai' words (trickier), 'kn' words (trickier), '-ing' words, '-ed' words, '-ier' words

N.B. 3 weeks of the spelling lists are duplicates to help consolidation of common spelling errors - my class didn't notice they'd had these spellings before over the course of the school year!
