This resource is aimed at upper KS2 or lower KS3 year groups.

We study the musical concept of looping in its many guises - using the London Eye as a national landmark!

During this scheme of work pupils will have opportunities:

  • To learn what a loop is and how it can be identified in music across a range of styles

  • To compose and perform original pieces based on the concept of ostinato

  • To explore how ostinato and looping is used, both in Western Tonal Music and contemporary Pop music by exploring set works:

    * Bolero - Ravel * Canon in D - Pachelbel * A Sky Full of Stars - Coldplay

Puplis will also be able to apply their knowledge in a practical sense by performing A Sky Full of Stars (noated with ukulele chord symbols)
