This lesson includes:
- A starter to recap some of the ideas of early migration from the previous lesson. You can edit this to suit whatever you taught previously.
- A teacher-led introduction to the Roman Empire and the land of the Britons. This is followed by a short clip from Betthany Hughes about how the Romans viewed Britain.
- A video from YouTube which shows some ideas why the Romans came to Britain. The students complete a short multiple choice quiz to consolidate what they learned.
- A main task which has a series of sources on. The students use these sources to extract the different arguments for invading Britain. Students complete a worksheet with their findings.
- A plenary to review the material learned in the lesson.
