This is a unit of work focusing on a variety of voices and cultures used for KS3 (some of the poems and lessons can be easily adapted for KS4 unseen poetry).
The first part of the unit focuses on key techniques:
- Onomatopoeia
- Rhyme
- Anthropomorphism
- Metaphor
- Imagery
Each of these lessons contains a poem which uses this technique in order to help the students access specific techniques and become familiar with analysing poetry. There is also a focus on developing their own responses to poetry and interpretation.
