This worksheet is based on the graph of temperature against time for a substance that is being steadily heated. The activities on page 1 test the student’s basic grasp how the graph represents the changes of state, and in particular that the level sections indicate where the change of state is occurring.
On page 2, the student is asked to consider why, in terms of the structure of solids,liquids and gases, the graph levels off during melting and boiling.
