This lesson introduces the myth of Isis and the Cobra from the book ‘Ancient Egypt: Tales of Gods and Pharaohs’ by Marcia Williams.
Forms part of a Talk 4 Writing unit of work for Year 4.
The class hear (but do not read for themselves) the story of Isis and the Cobra and have the chance to discuss it. The main objective of the lesson is to talk about the book itself and then summarise the main events briefly.
This is just a smart notebook file of the lesson - no planning should be required for this as everything the teacher needs to say or do is prompted within the notebook. WALTs and WILFs are shown and can be copied to be used separately. No other resources should be needed for this lesson, though having a copy of the text would be beneficial.
Meets the NC objective: Participate in discussion about both books that are read to them and those they can read for themselves, taking turns and listening to what others say.
