Love and different kinds of abuse KS2 Year 5-6 PSHE Lesson
In this lesson, we will learn about healthy, loving relationships and abusive behaviour, as well as how to recognise possible signs of abuse and seek help. This lesson gently builds on our earlier Respectful Relationships lesson, where we first introduced the concept of abuse and explored how not all relationships are respectful or safe.
We look at this topic in greater detail by exploring different forms of abuse, including physical, verbal and emotional abuse, neglect and domestic abuse. We also briefly and age-appropriately explore unsafe touch (sexual abuse). Pupils will learn to recognise possible signs of abuse and understand how to seek help for themselves or someone else. They will also learn that it is not their responsibility to solve these problems on their own and that, even if they are unsure whether something is wrong, they should always speak to a trusted adult.
