This PowerPoint lesson takes the class through the two scenes that bring Duncan to Macbeth’s castle and show Macbeth considering the severity of the act he is contemplating performing. The class is reminded of the power of the soliloquy and how clear Shakespeare makes Macbeth’s understanding of the sin he’ll be committing if he kills the king. The scene is also explored for its drama - with Macbeth nearly calling off the murder and the powerfully persuasive language that Lady Macbeth deploys to ensure the act goes ahead. The class are given two activities to undertake to shore up their understanding of the power of Lady Macbeth’s words.
