This worksheet supports pupils in exploring Act 3, Scene 4 of Macbeth, set in the hall of the palace, where Macbeth’s grip on power begins to fracture during the banquet scene. A range of differentiated questions guides students through comprehension, inference, language analysis and thematic exploration, helping them examine Shakespeare’s presentation of guilt, paranoia, and public versus private identity. Pupils are encouraged to analyse how Macbeth’s behaviour unravels in front of his guests and how Lady Macbeth attempts to maintain control.

Ideal for KS3 lessons, homework or revision, this resource strengthens close‑reading skills and deepens understanding of Shakespeare’s dramatic tension, character development, and use of the supernatural.
