A 76 slide PowerPoint that systematically goes through 30 key quotations from the play chronologically.

Students are given the quotation and a prompt question to discuss. The next slide offers analysis of the quotation. This process is repeated for all 30 quotations.

The worksheet is used at the end to check how much information students have retained.

Also includes a top 10 if 30 is too many for some students:

Your A02 mark is determined by your strongest analytical point.

While A01 requires a range of relevant textual references (both from the extract and elsewhere in the text), A02 is not about quantity of analysis, but quality. Examiners reward depth: your highest-level insight into a single quotation will drive your mark.

This means you should always plan to select one key quotation in your response to analyse in exceptional detail, exploring it in multiple layers (language, methods, structure, meanings, and alternative interpretations) to access the highest A02 bands.

This lesson will help you develop the kind of multi-layered thinking needed to produce that level of detailed, perceptive analysis of a single textual reference.
