Exciting experiment which can be used across all key stages. Students prepare a chocolate mixture using laboratory equipment, and food grade chemicals which are all edible and easy to source. They then perfect their pipetting technique to create chocolate spheres.

This experiment can be differentiated by using Gilson pipettes and is an excellent way to train students in their correct use. The experiment can be further expanded to incorporate research tasks for the various reagents and what their role is in the spherification process.
