A cut out activity to review amino acids and peptide bonds.

Students “perform” condensation reactions by cutting off -OH and -H from carboxyl and amino groups of amino acids and joining the resulting molecules with sellotape to form peptides and H2O,
Students can connect several amino acids in this way to form an oligopeptide.

page 1 includes instructions
page 2 includes 2 sets of 6 amino acid cards (for 2 students)
page 3 includes a set of 6 large amino acid cards (for those that find the smaller cards to fiddly)

Great as plenary activity.

This resources is also part of SNAB Topic 2 - Lesson 03a (Amino acids)
Designed for SNAB Biology Topic 2 (Genes & Health) but also suitable for other exam boards
