Marvellous Minibeast Bundle: Snails, Dragonflies, Bees and Ladybirds

This ‘marvellous minibeast’ bundle contains:
7 colourful, well-structured presentations which introduce and lead learners through the wonderful world of minibeasts.
There are four specific minibeast presentations featured:
Bees
Dragonflies
Ladybirds
Snails
Each unit of work includes:
opportunities to build up important ‘minibeast’ vocabulary before writing (mini whiteboard task)
simple factual information to read and discuss
labelling tasks and life cycle sequencing task
factual writing tasks with sentence stems
simple ‘draw a minibeast’ tasks /alternative ‘cut and stick’ tasks
Additional tasks:
comprehension passages with questions
alphabetical order tasks
minibeast word hunts
minbeast handwriting
minibeast grammar and punctuation tasks
Three additional presentations concentrate on:
minibeast report writing
minibeast note taking
minibeast adjectives
The Minibeast Report Writing presentation provides an opportunity for learners to plan and write a non-chronological report. It details the structure of a report, encourages the use of mind mapping and has clear graphics and suggestions to aid composition. Extension tasks are included for more able learners. Editing sheets are provided differentiated to 2 levels.
Note -taking is a difficult skill. This unit of work introduces learners in a clear and structured manner with opportunities for mini whiteboard work – easily adapted to paired or trio tasks.
I have included tasks and active learning throughout the presentations. Within the presentations, I have provided answer slides for immediate and easy correction. I feel that young learners benefit from clear and concise minibeast facts as many of the relevant non-fiction texts can be too difficult for early readers to access initially.
Links are also provided within several of the presentations to appropriate minibeast sites that enhance and enrich the learners' experience as well as providing active tasks/games and songs.
I have provided some jpg files so teachers can peruse the resources more comprehensively.
