A low-prep outdoor teaching and learning activity that can be used in a whole class or small group setting.

This resource addresses the following Australian curriculum outcomes:

  • Recognise and represent multiplication as repeated addition, groups and arrays
  • Representing array problems with available materials and explaining reasoning

This resource Includes:

· Instructions for set-up and use.
· Differentiated sets of task cards (1 – 3 stars).
· 1 Star – students match arrays or groups.
· 2 Star – students match arrays or groups, linking to repeated addition and calculating equations.
· 3 Star – students create their own array or ‘groups of’ to represent multiplication number sentences and write it in a different way.
· ‘I can’ statements on task cards so students can refer to learning during unsupervised use.
· Multiplication think-boards included for follow on activities and consolidation of learning.
