Differentiated activity for collecting like terms. Students have the blank pyramid and then have a set of smaller ‘bricks’ that they need to correctly place to complete the pyramid. The rule is theat 2 bracks must be added to make the brick above them.

Each colour is a diiferent level of difficulty. Once these are made they are really great to get out for a quick starter or plenary.

Very cute and simple, thanks! I like giving students the empty ones too - so they can create their own!

I like the idea, thanks. I used sets 1 and 2. Be aware that Set 2 has mistakes. On the third row down,, X + 2Y should be X+3Y. On the second row down, X+6Y should be X+7Y, and on the top row, 4X+9Y should be 4X+10Y. Set 1 seemed OK. I would recommend checking any of the other sets prior to using them.
